June Meeting Minutes (6/12/2007)
The June 2007 MASA meeting was held on the 7th at
the Science Museum.
9 people attended the meeting.
- The June 23rd launch will be at the sod farm near Nowthen.
Contests are planned - see the Events page for details.
- An evening launch is planned for the summer solstice - June
21 - at the Elk River VFW.
- The annual MASA picnic and launch will be held on July 21 at
the Elk River VFW.
- MASA has been invited to setup a display table in the
science room at Convergence - a local science fiction convention
held on July 6-7-8. The hours are 4-7 on Friday, 10-6 on
Saturday, and noon-4 on Sunday. If you would be
interested, please speak up! It's being held at the
Sheraton South in Bloomington.

- Meeting topics are needed for the August through November
MASA meetings. Some ideas were: L1 cert how-to,
RockSim, Electronics (altimeters, etc), video rockets, and V2's.
If you have ideas, or would like to volunteer to lead a topic,
please let us know!
Show -n- Tell
- Ken J. brought along three rockets built from the Excelsior
Goony retro-bash plan sets - Goony Ghost, Goony Bird Zero, and
Goony Max.
- Alan E. brought along a tilt/swivel launch rod mount that
was made from a speaker mount. He also brought along his
new 6-pad launch controller.
- Robert brought along some Russian model rocket books that he
acquired on Ebay.
Baby Bertha Kitbash Kickoff! Challenge
- build something "Goony" starting from the parts in the Estes
Baby Bertha kit! Then, we'll launch these Goony creations at the
summer picnic in July.

This kitbash has pretty relaxed rules. You can add/change
any parts necessary to recreate any of the original Goonybirds
or any of the Goony Retro-Bash designs. You can also come
up with your own design in the Goony spirit.
