July 16, 2005 launch report (7/17/2005)
Picnic!
On Saturday, July 16th, many MASA members gathered at the
Elk River VFW for the annual
MASA picnic and rocket launch. It
was a very hot day with a bright sun. The breeze brought some
welcome relief even if it did make the recovery walks longer.
Launching went from 11am to about 5pm with the picnic following.
Big thanks to:
- Mike Erpelding for organizing the range and hauling the
necessary gear.
- All LCO volunteers - Mike Erpelding, Ken Jarosch, Art Gibbens,
Ted Cochran
A few of the flights:
MASA members - please send in your thoughts about the
launch!

From a Newbie BAR....
This is my first year in MASA and consequently my first MASA
picnic. Thank you everyone for making it a great time. I
had several "first launches" including a new Fat Boy, Quark
and ACME Spitfire. My daughter Alyssa also flew a few
"first" flights including her Super Eagle, Fat Boy and Sky
Writer. The temperature was hot, the food was plentiful,
the launches were great and the door prizes were wonderful.
My only down side for the day: my Quark is somewhere out
there waiting to become mulch the next time they mow that
field.
